Instructions
Onion Ring Roll
- Preheat the oven to 200°C. Line a 30×43 cm rimmed baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Sprinkle the baking sheet with cheese so there is a thin, even layer. Arrange the onion ring slices side by side without fully overlapping.
- Lightly brush the tops of the onion rings with olive oil, then season generously with salt, garlic powder, and paprika.
- Bake for 18 to 20 minutes, rotating the pan halfway through, until golden brown and crispy.
Ground Meat
- While the onion rings bake, heat the olive oil in a skillet over medium-high heat.
- Add the ground beef and break it up with a wooden spoon. Stir in the salt, garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, and chili powder.
- Add the chicken broth, cover, and cook for 10 minutes. Uncover, stir, then remove the pan from the heat and keep covered.
Assembly
- When the onion sheet is done, let it cool for about 2 minutes. Do not wait too long or it will harden and become difficult to roll.
- Flip the onion sheet over. Layer the ham and cheese evenly on top, spread the ground beef over that, and finish with the pickles.
- Roll tightly from one short side to the other. Reposition the roll on the baking sheet with the seam side down and tucked underneath.
- Bake for 7 to 10 minutes. Slice and serve warm.
