baguette, cut into 2 cm thick slices
- sunflower oil for frying
Instructions
- Heat sunflower oil in a cast iron pan to 170ยฐC.
- Cut the baguette into slices about 2 cm thick.
- Combine finely grated Gruyรจre cheese with milk, eggs, Kirsch, flour, baking powder, ground pepper, and grated nutmeg. Mix well until smooth.
- Spread the cheese mixture onto the slices of baguette, shaping it into a half-sphere with a smooth surface. Shape by hand if needed.
- Fry the cheese-covered slices with the surface facing down until they turn golden brown.
- Flip and fry until the bread side is also golden brown and crisp.
